Welcome to Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith, the
multi-faculty, co-educational government-sponsored general degree college,
under West Bengal State University, Barasat. The college, established in
1964, aims to perpetuate an intellectual ambience that enhances
learner-centric growth and perpetuates academic activities. The college has
been accredited with Grade 'B+' (in the 2nd Cycle) by the NAAC peer team
during its visit in September 2016. With 23 departments at present, the
college offers 23 UG degrees in broad areas ranging from Language to
Commerce, Social Science to Pure and Bio Sciences. The College also runs 3 PG
courses in Bengali, Education and Commerce. NEP, 2020 has been introduced
from the academic session 2023–2024.
We follow a transparent admission procedure based
on merit. We also adhere to the reservation policy of the Higher Education
Department. A number of different scholarship schemes are there to support
meritorious students from economically backward families. Our students
receive all information and notification on time through the college website
and through conventional smart notice boards. This institution has developed
a regular practice of organising parent-teacher meet, peer-visit, invited
lectures, students' seminar, alumni meet etc.
To inculcate knowledge and power in the minds of
young learners, has long been the holistic vision of the college. This would
lead to an all-round development of the nation, as a whole. The enhancement
of the welfare of the society being our ultimate mission. The students' need
to cater to global and national arenas, are thus adhered to. With the
evolving time, our institution would thus be prepared to face challenges,
that would answer all possible global crises. To emerge stronger and oriented
in the face of a changed social order, is our ultimate ambition. We hope to
achieve an all-round success by the help and co-operation of one and all.
Our College has reached its glorious 60 on the 5th
of March 2024. To commemorate this Diamond Jubilee, we have embarked on a
year long celebration, marked by a variety of events and activities.
